How to book a hotel with Bitcoin

Travel6 min readLast checked 10 Oct 2026

You can book a hotel with Bitcoin on KryptoMate even if the hotel itself doesn't take crypto. Search Stays for hotels in 200+ countries, choose a room and rate, and pay us in BTC (or USDT, ETH and 200+ other coins); we settle with the hotel. Read each rate's cancellation terms and any amount due at the property before you pay. Card is accepted too.

How to book a hotel with Bitcoin on KryptoMate

  1. Open Stays and enter a destination: a city, region or hotel name.
  2. Choose check-in and check-out dates (check-in must be tomorrow or later), then set adults, children with their ages, and rooms.
  3. Search and filter by price, Free cancellation, Payment (Pay now or Pay at hotel), star rating, guest rating, board and amenities. There's also a filter for Nothing to pay at the hotel.
  4. Open a hotel and go to Rooms and rates. For each rate, check the cancellation terms, Pay now or Pay at hotel, the board (room only, breakfast and so on), tax included, and any amount marked at the hotel.
  5. Select Book on the rate. Enter the guest's first name, last name, email and phone, and tick I'm booking for someone else if the guest isn't you. Add special requests if you have any.
  6. Add to cart and go to checkout. Guests only need an email; an account is optional.
  7. At How would you like to pay?, under On-Chain choose On-Chain · 200+ coins, pick BTC, then the Bitcoin network. You'll see the exact amount ("Send exactly"), the address and a QR code. The other On-Chain tile, marked BTC · Lightning · USDT · ETH, opens a secure payment form that also takes Lightning.
  8. Send the exact amount from your wallet or exchange straight away. The screen shows "Payment detected · confirming" and moves on by itself; you can leave the page.
  9. After payment, the order page confirms your reservation with the hotel and then shows your Confirmation ID.

Things to know before you book

You pay KryptoMate, not the hotel

The hotel doesn't need to accept bitcoin. You pay the total shown at checkout to KryptoMate in the coin you choose, and we settle with the property. Anything marked Due at property (a tourism tax, for example) isn't in that total and is paid to the hotel, along with extras like minibar or room service. See What do I pay at the hotel?.

Rates are held for up to 30 minutes

The hotel page shows Rates held for with a countdown (up to 30 minutes from your search), and checkout gives you 30 minutes to pay. A Bitcoin transaction usually needs some time to confirm (the screen says usually 10–30 minutes), so send as soon as the address appears rather than at the last moment. The hotel is booked once your payment is confirmed. If the rate is no longer available at that price by then, we try the same rate again; if it can't be booked, the order is refunded under the Refund Policy and the order page says why.

Bitcoin fees and amounts

Prices are in US dollars, and the exact BTC amount is calculated when the payment is created. On-Chain itself adds no payment fee, but the network fee from your wallet or exchange is yours, so send at least the exact amount. If you send less, the screen shows Partly paid · send the rest to the same address before the window closes. Only send BTC on the Bitcoin network: other coins or networks can't be recovered. More on paying with Bitcoin.

Prefer a stablecoin or card?

If BTC's price moves while you're deciding, a stablecoin like USDT or USDC keeps the amount steady in dollar terms. You can also pay with an exchange pay option, a Web3 wallet, your Mate Wallet or a credit or debit card. The methods offered for your order are the ones shown at checkout.

Confirmation and check-in

Confirmation typically takes minutes, but can take up to 48 hours for some properties. The order page and the guest's email then show the Confirmation ID, check-in and check-out times, hotel contact and policies. At the desk, give the guest's name and the Confirmation ID. See Where is my hotel confirmation and how does check-in work?.

Cancelling

You can cancel a confirmed booking yourself from the order page; it shows the refund amount before you confirm. What you get back depends on the rate's terms and the date: non-refundable rates, late cancellations and no-shows aren't refunded. Hotel refunds can take several weeks to process. The Refund Policy applies.

Identity checks

Identity verification isn't required for every order. Under our AML & KYC Policy we may ask some customers to verify, for example for unusual activity or high values. The hotel may separately ask for ID at check-in.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. You pay KryptoMate in BTC and we settle with the hotel, so the property doesn't need to take crypto. You pay the hotel directly only for anything marked Due at property and any extras during your stay.
