Is my phone compatible with eSIM?

3 Min. LesezeitVeröffentlicht am 5. Okt. 2026

Dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. You can also search your model on the Compatible devices page. The phone must be unlocked.

The quickest check is on the phone itself: open the dialler and dial *#06#. If the screen shows an EID number, the phone supports eSIM. You can also look your model up on our Compatible devices page at /esim/compatible. The phone must also be unlocked.

01Check on the phone

Any phone
open the phone dialler and dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, your device supports eSIM.
iPhone
open Settings and tap Cellular (named Mobile Service or Mobile Data on some iPhones). If you see Add eSIM, the iPhone supports it. eSIM needs an iPhone XS, iPhone XR or a newer model.
Android
open Settings and go to the SIM settings. Menu names differ by maker: on a Google Pixel it is Network & internet, then SIMs; on a Samsung Galaxy it is Connections, then SIM manager. If you can add an eSIM there, the phone supports it.

02Check on the Compatible devices page

  1. 1Open /esim/compatible.
  2. 2Type your model in Search your device.
  3. 3Read the result. It says whether the model supports eSIM, or supports it only in some regions.

The list covers phones, tablets and laptops. A model marked Some regions has eSIM only in certain regional variants: use the *#06# check to confirm yours.

03Things that still matter

Carrier lock.
A phone bought from a carrier may be network-locked and unable to use an eSIM from another provider, even if the model supports eSIM. Ask your carrier to unlock it before you buy.
Not on the list is not a no.
The list keeps growing. If *#06# shows an EID number, the phone supports eSIM even if it is not listed.
iPhone software.
An iPhone needs iOS 12.1 or later to install an eSIM.

Tip: On an iPhone you can check the lock yourself. Open Settings, General, About. An unlocked iPhone shows "No SIM Restrictions" next to Carrier Lock.

Important: Under our Terms of Service, checking device compatibility before you buy is your responsibility. Our Refund Policy does not refund plans bought for devices that do not support eSIM.

04Still not sure

Ask before you buy. The Compatible devices page has an Ask support button, or email [email protected] with your phone's exact model and what you see when you dial *#06#.
