How do I redeem a Google Play gift card?

Redeem the code in the Google Play app, or at play.google.com/redeem, on a Google Account whose Google Play country matches the card. Google's help says its gift cards can only be redeemed in the country they are made for.

01Before you start

• Check the country of your Google Play account. The card's currency must match your Play Store currency.
• Redeem while you are in the card's country. Google's help says that if you are travelling outside that country you may need to wait until you return.
• Copy the code from your order page with the Copy button. Google asks for the code without spaces or dashes.

02On an Android phone or tablet

1. 1Open the Google Play app.
2. 2At the top right, tap your profile picture.
3. 3Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Redeem code.
4. 4Enter the code.
5. 5Tap Redeem.
6. 6Check the account that will receive the balance, then tap Confirm.

03On a computer

1. 1Go to play.google.com/redeem and sign in.
2. 2Enter your code.
3. 3Click Redeem.
4. 4Check the account that will receive the balance, then click Confirm.

04If that did not work

• "This code can only be used in" another country or region: your Google Play country, or the place you are in, does not match the card. This check is Google's and we cannot switch it off. If you are sure you are in the card's country, Google's help page "Fix problems with Google Play gift cards & codes" has a form for this. See also Why can I not use my gift card in my country?.
• "We need more information to redeem your gift card": Google asks for extra details through its own form, linked in the message and on the same help page. Submit the form and wait for Google's reply.
• Already redeemed: check your Google Play balance and the Google Account you were signed in to. See My gift card code says it was already redeemed.
• A problem with the code: copy the code again from your order page and check that it has no spaces or dashes. See My gift card code is not working.

Keep a screenshot of Google's message and of Google's reply. Support asks for them.
