A key is a code you activate on a platform. An account is a new login that holds the game. A game top-up is credit sent to your player ID, with no code.
Products under Gaming are delivered in different forms. The product name and the product page tell you which form you are buying. Read them before paying, because each form is used differently.
01The forms
02Where the page says it
- Product type in the details list shows the catalogue's type, for example Base game, DLC, Vouchers or Software.
- Platform and Region are in the same list.
- An account product shows the notice This is an account, not a product key.
- The Activation details tab, when the product has one, explains how that exact product is activated.
03Which one should I choose?
- To add a game to your own library, choose a key for your platform and region.
- Choose an account only if you are happy to use a separate, new account for that content.
- For in-game currency with nothing to redeem, use Game top-up.
Important: Our Refund Policy (section 3.2) does not refund keys that have been activated, redeemed or revealed by the customer, or purchases of region-locked or platform-incompatible products despite clear warnings on the product page. Check the form, platform and region before you pay.
