How do I use my eSIM abroad and keep my normal SIM?

2 phút đọcĐăng ngày 5 thg 10, 2026

At your destination, turn the eSIM on, choose it for mobile data and follow the Data Roaming and APN notes on your order page. Your normal SIM can stay in the phone.

Your travel eSIM works next to your normal SIM. At your destination you turn the eSIM on and choose it for mobile data. Most eSIM-compatible phones support dual SIM, so your normal SIM keeps working for calls.

01Steps on arrival

  1. 1Open your phone's mobile or SIM settings and make sure the travel eSIM is turned on.
  2. 2Choose the travel eSIM as the line for mobile data.
  3. 3Open your order page, or the eSIM under My eSIMs, and read the notes under the install block.
  4. 4If a note tells you to turn on Data Roaming for this eSIM, turn it on in the eSIM's own settings.
  5. 5If a note shows Set this eSIM's APN to a value, enter that value as the APN for the eSIM. If it says the APN is set automatically, do nothing.

02Things to know

  • The eSIM connects only in the countries listed under Where it works on its plan page.
  • A Data only plan has no call minutes or SMS. Calls and SMS on your own number go through your normal SIM.
  • Apps that work over the internet use the eSIM's data once it is the line for mobile data.

03Your normal SIM

Tip: This is general phone guidance, not a KryptoMate rule. Your home carrier may charge roaming for calls, texts or data used on your normal SIM abroad. To keep data off it, make sure mobile data is set to the travel eSIM and turn data roaming off for your normal SIM. Ask your home carrier about its roaming prices.
