You redeem an Amazon gift card by entering its claim code on the Redeem a Gift Card page of your Amazon account and selecting Apply to Your Balance. The rule that matters is the store: Amazon says an Amazon.com Gift Card can only be used on Amazon.com, and a redeemed balance can't be moved to an Amazon store in a different country. Buy the card for the Amazon site you actually shop on.
How to redeem an Amazon gift card
- Copy the claim code from your order page with Copy. Amazon says a claim code is 14 or 15 characters long and usually mixes letters and numbers.
- Sign in to the Amazon site the card is for, with the account that should hold the balance.
- Open the page Redeem a Gift Card in your account.
- Enter the claim code.
- Select Apply to Your Balance.
Amazon stores the funds in your account and applies them automatically to your next eligible order. You don't have to spend the whole amount at once.
Entering the code at checkout
Amazon's help page gives a second route. During checkout, select Use a gift card, voucher, or promo code, enter the claim code in that section and select Apply. The balance is added to your account in the same way.
Before you confirm
Look at the account name in the corner of the page. Amazon is firm on this point: once a card is redeemed, the balance can't be transferred to another account. If your household shares a computer, this is the step where cards go to the wrong person.
Which region to buy
Can I use an Amazon gift card in a different country?
Not across Amazon stores. Amazon's own pages put it this way:
- Amazon.com Gift Cards can only be used on Amazon.com.
- Once redeemed, an Amazon.com Gift Card balance can't be transferred between accounts, or to an Amazon store in a different country.
- The Amazon.com terms add that neither the balance nor the cards may be applied to purchases at any Amazon-affiliated property outside the United States.
Other Amazon stores write the same idea from their side. The Amazon.co.uk gift card terms, for example, say its cards are redeemed on amazon.co.uk and may not be used on other Amazon sites, and they name amazon.com, amazon.de, amazon.fr and others.
Notice what the rule is about. It ties the card to an Amazon store, not to the place you live. Whether that store delivers to your address is a separate question for Amazon, and we can't answer it for you.

From the KryptoMate catalogue on 11 Oct 2026. Each card's page has its "Redeemable in" line and its Terms. The catalogue has 21 more Amazon cards: see the Amazon page.
Pick the card for the Amazon site where you have your account and place orders: Amazon USA for Amazon.com, Amazon UK for amazon.co.uk, Amazon Canada, Amazon Germany and so on. Read the Redeemable in line and the Terms tab first. Two cards in the same currency are still two different stores, so a euro card for one Amazon site is not a card for every euro site unless its Terms say so.
The brand page also lists products that are not store balance, such as Prime memberships. Those follow their own steps, shown in the product's How to redeem tab.
If the code doesn't work
What Amazon lists
Amazon's page on redemption problems covers these cases:
- The gift card has already been redeemed. It has been applied to your account or to another one. Amazon says to check Your Gift Card Balance; once redeemed, the balance stays in the account, so there is nothing to redeem twice.
- Applied to the wrong account. If someone else had the claim code, it may have been redeemed on their account. The balance can't be moved afterwards.
- Used outside its store. You are trying to use an Amazon.com Gift Card somewhere other than Amazon.com.
- A card for another retailer. Amazon calls these specialty gift cards. They can only be redeemed with the retailer named on the card.
What to do on our side
First use Copy on your order page and paste the claim code, so a 14 or 15 character code isn't mistyped. Next, confirm you are on the Amazon site named on the card, and check your gift card balance there; a first attempt may have worked. My gift card code says it was already redeemed goes through this.
If the code still fails on the right site, contact our support with your order number and a screenshot of Amazon's message, without typing the full code. We review an invalid or undelivered code under the Refund Policy when it is reported within 48 hours of delivery. A card bought for the wrong Amazon store by your own selection can't be refunded, and a redeemed code is final.
Bought it with crypto?
Amazon only sees a claim code, not how you paid for it. Ordering is covered in How to buy an Amazon gift card with crypto, and the payment in How to pay On-Chain.
